Use 2Checkout to Accept Credit Cards On-line
You can sell products on the Internet without using a merchant account using 2Checkout. It’s essentially a free merchant account because there are no monthly credit card fees.
It may be advantageous if you are only selling a few products and don’t want the hassle of setting up a merchant account and shopping cart.
The last I checked, 2Checkout charges a $49 setup fee, 5.5% commission on each transaction plus a $0.45 charge per sale.
The advantages:
* No merchant account, gateway or secure shopping cart required
* No credit history required
* No monthly minimum sales
* No monthly fees
* Allows recurring billing
The disadvantages:
* Higher cost per item sold
* Billing and credit card statements show “2Checkout” instead of your business.
* Doesn’t integrate with mail list.
* Deposits to your bank account twice per month
