Using XSite Pro
While XSite Pro is fairly new it’s the best web site design software for those who are into Internet Marketing and putting up a lot of web sites.
As a result, XSite Pro was developed specifically to make it easy to create multiple web sites and designed with online marketing in mind. It comes with a bunch of templates to make things even easier.
You essentially set up the layout for your site choosing the header, sidebars and main panel footer and page footer. You can customize each of them on the layout page. The rest is adding content to pages, each of which will use the layout specified. Most of the options are set up as checkboxes for publishing, adding to the navigation menu, site map, etc.
You can import pages, add sub-pages, create a Google Site Map, insert Google AdSense, use tokens to create multiple pages, and lots more. Use the link to see the complete set of video tutorials for XSite Pro so you know ahead of time what you are getting. You have to enter your name and email, but they don’t beat you up with come-ons later.
Along with the videos there is a 400 page manual and, if you really get stuck, there’s a user’s forum in addition to tech support.
While it has some limitations for those who are used to using FrontPage or Dreamweaver, it’s much simpler to use and has some really handy features like an analysis for each page that checks your search engine optimization.
You can export your site in a format for further editing in FrontPage or Dreamweaver. You can also back up ALL your sites with two clicks of your mouse.
The only disadvantage that I have found is that it doesn’t use server-side includes. That means that if you, for example, change the navigation, it recreates all of the web pages for your site and publishes each of them. If you have large sites, say more than 100 pages, it just takes a long time to save and publish your web site.
As an example, I’ve used a program called Webmerge to convert a database into html pages, then imported the pages into XSite Pro. Like I said, it can take a while to save and publish, but you can see the results at www.keyboard-galaxy.com
